A wedding and weekend in Cape Cod, MA

My dear friends Lukas and Kim got married over the weekend at his grandparents' house in Fairhaven, MA. Lukas and I always got along because of our shared love for food and herbs. One of my clearer college memories was when he hosted a bud butter infused spaghetti night, and now he and Kim will be opening Judy's Bay, a local seafood izakaya in Cambridge. I've seen him hustling in food trucks, pulling through pop ups with Kim, and now they got a brick and mortar baby on the way! I'm so grateful to be able to witness their growth together and to see them achieving their long time dreams.

And what a lovely wedding it was. It was a backyard DIY, only made possible my the many generous family members and friends that came together to help out. I loved admiring the apple tree, Lukas' backyard garden, and enjoying all the seasonal fruits up for grabs throughout the event. They are truly blessed to have each other.

On the way drive back home, my car pool pack made many fun stops for treats. The original plan was to drive up the Cape, but after discussing the options with the locals, everyone talked us out of it and suggested we head back south. We got the lobster roll and fried clams experience at Gene's Famous Seafood, explored a farm and crafts market along the way, made the necessary dispensary stop at the border of MA/RI, chilled to live music and turmeric lattes at the Seven Stars Cafe in Providence, and got wood fired pizza in New Haven. All in all a very fulfilling and satisfying New England weekend.
